Finding Meaning in the Numbers

Why Make a Financial Plan

At the beginning of summer, my wife and I made a joyful addition to our little family: we brought home what we thought was a mini Goldendoodle puppy. Emphasis on thought. Over the past few months, it’s become clear that our curly-haired companion may be more Irish Doodle than mini — and definitely not as “mini” as advertised!

From a purely financial perspective, was this a sound investment? The costs (adoption fees, vet visits, vaccinations, food, toys … so many toys) add up quickly. And unlike traditional investments, there’s no expectation of a financial return. But that’s not why we brought her home.

What’s the Real Point of Financial Planning?

For us, the decision wasn’t about spreadsheets or return on investment. It was about the joy of coming home to a wagging tail, the encouragement to take early morning walks as the weather turns crisp, and the quiet comfort of having her curled up beside us on chilly fall evenings. It was about adding richness to our lives in ways that numbers can’t fully capture. And it’s something we had thoughtfully planned and saved for.

At JFS Wealth Advisors, we believe financial planning should support the life you want to live, not the other way around. Money is a means to an end, a tool to help you reach your most meaningful goals. Whether that means buying a home, starting a family, funding an education, retiring on your terms, or yes , even bringing home a four-legged friend, your financial plan should reflect what matters most to you.

So we’ll ask again, as we often do: What’s your why?

Whatever it is, we’re here to help you align your financial life with the life you truly want to live.

We’d love to start that conversation — whenever you’re ready.
